Back Between The Lines

So, I had a fantastic Holiday schmear — from Thanksgiving in New Mexico, through shopping and preparing, through Holiday parties, through Christmas here in San Diego, through the Mid-lantic swing after Christmas until New Year's Day.

About the only thing that I can think of as a downside was that I really got out of my exercise routine — no running and no tennis.  So, I was happy this morning to get out and play tennis with my friend Jeff for the first time since Thanksgiving (at least).  We typically have tried to keep a schedule of playing on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings — but between holidays, travel, a little rain, and some illness — we've been unable to play.

So it was with great joy and a little trepidation (because of not playing for 6 or 7 weeks) that we got back out there at the Rancho Penasquitos Tennis Center.

We warmed up A LOT — and with a Santa Ana wind coming down the canyon — it was a blustery blustery day!! — our warm-ups looked like some sort of bad circus act.  But I have to say that I was pretty happy with our play once we got started.  We played only one set — the long warm-up, long games, a family commitment for Jeff and the impending Eagles game — Jeff winning 6-3.

Hopefully, we can get back on track for more times "on" than "off" this year.  I wonder if I'll feel this happy when I go out for my first run since Thanksgiving this week?

  1. Steve, I really enjoyed your blog about storing all your "stuff", but the toaster
oven???? How can you survive? Sounds like you didn't make the decisions.
