Earlier today, Hannabanana posted on FB about The Decemberists and their intelligent songs. One of them is the song "Shankill Butchers" which recalls the criminal-terrorist gang in Ireland in the 1970s.
I know, nice topic, right? Anyway, I mentioned that young bluegrass singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz had done a cover of it on her debut album "Song Up In Her Head" (which is really quite good) — and told her I would post it. So here it is.
I think this version transforms the song into almost a "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" early 19th century type-sound. Probably my favorite on the CD. Not bad for a girl barely old enough to see an R-rated movie.
