Friday Drabble: Epiphany

Remember, a drabble is a very short story of exactly 100 words.  Feel free to join in and write your own 100 word stories on Fridays, and tag them with “friday drabble”.  Link to them in the comments here, or on Twitter with the hashtag #fridaydrabble.

This is the first one that ever picked up a thread from the previous week's story.  Was it where you expected it to go?

Carolyn recalled that Tom had sounded preoccupied when he'd asked her for coffee.

He’d distractedly made small talk, but finally got to the point.  He was tossing her aside for Lori.  His “friend”.  Good Lord.  Lori. With an “i".  Probably signs her name with a heart over it, she thought.

Tom said they’d talked long into the night.  That he was “blown away” by Lori’s confession of love.  They’d had an epiphany.  What crap. That made her throw her coffee on him.

It's okay, Carolyn mused.  She knew how to handle women like Lori-with-a-heart-over-the-i.  After all, she’d done it before.
