Birthday Girl

It’s a big today of celebration here today at The Aerie: Penny’s second birthday!  Of course, she didn’t join our home until weeks later but two years ago today she was a squirmy little puppy that could fit on an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper.

It seemed appropriate that we should start the day by going to Dog Beach in Del Mar, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day – sunny, warm and crystal clear – just like Penny likes it.

There was extra fun, because a couple of her dog friends – Lola the vizsla from our neighborhood and Jaegermeister the mini-dachshund also turned out to wish Penny the best.  A great time was had by all.

Afterwards, we headed over to a dog-friendly restaurant for breakfast and then stopped to get treats – including a “doggie slider” – that will substitute for a birthday cake (though the store had those too – maybe next year, pup).

She also received Lizzy the Lizard as a new chew toy – though I think after the big morning it might be a few hours before she gets around to chewing on it.

    • It was funny, when he got there, Penny started playing differently with him — not running as much but jumping around more — as if taking his smaller stature into account. What a nice girl.

  1. Isn’t the internet a wonderful place. I remember when you got Penny and now I get to see her grow up, maybe even grow old, on the other side of the world.

  2. Peppy sends his regrets for missing her party ( I didn’t tell him he wasn’t invited) we wouldn’t want to break his heart as he still has a crush on her. I’ve tried to tell him its just puppy love.
