Horses of a Different Color

“THE END IS NEAR!” the man carrying the sign was back outside their building.  He’d been there all week.

“Crazy coot,” she said, sipping her coffee.  “Which I better enjoy now” she mused. Beans were getting so expensive due the ongoing South American drought.

Her CNN feed depressed her – the North African War was threatening to bring in Israel and all of Africa and they certainly didn’t need that with Ebola killing millions. And now their vacation to France might be cancelled because of the H3N45 quarantine.

“End of the world…” she said, “Have you ever heard anything so silly?”

  1. This reminds me of the little Doomsday clock on the cover of the Bulletin of the Nuclear Scientists. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it more than five minutes away from midnight aka The End, though today I checked and it was SIX minutes to midnight.

    If you think too hard about it, we are always one day closer to the end. I just hope mine isn’t too soon!
