Blind Date

The chardonnay had warmed as she waited for him to show.  He didn’t.  Tipping the glass, the wine caught the candlelight, reflecting back golden, flickering glimpses of her humiliation.

  1. This is good, Steve! I caught a glimpse of a similar scene in a restaurant a week ago. I felt bad for the young woman sitting alone, except that she kept pulling out her cellphone to call the person she was meeting, and her voice mails got angrier and more obscenity-laced as the evening went by. It made me wonder if her date got wind of her temper and lost nerve!

    • Thanks, HG — I guess we’ve all been on bad blind dates, but I’d had some white wine the other day and the whole thing came from how it glinted in the light. Go figure.
