Friday Drabble: The Two of Us

The Two of Us

We’ve been together for years now, though sometimes I think I hardly know you at all. I really didn’t know what I was doing when I met you, but you entranced me — those days we began making something out of nothing.

I know sometimes you get the silent treatment. And sometimes I can’t get across what I want out of this relationship. Sometimes I fear you wish I was better than I am. But we still connect, don’t we? Isn’t it still magical? I like to think so.

And I know we’re in this for the long haul together.

  1. Nice.

I drove my sister nuts because she’d come home from piano lessons and practice … then I’d go over to the piano and play what she had just played, only better. At least, the simple little right-handed songs. When it got to the point of reading music and having to use my left hand at the same time I quit being the annoying little brother. Shortly after that, she quit taking lessons and my folks sold the piano.

    • GOM — such a nice brother!! Sometimes I wonder if I might have chosen something a little less challenging than the piano — you know, with its two hands together thing.

      Maybe you start again! :)

    • Thanks — I just finished a book about a guy that started piano in his middle age and it had me thinking about my relationship with my piano. Definitely on-again/off-again — though mostly on! :)
