I know that I’ve posted a couple of these before, but I thought that this send-up was exceptional because of the lyrics (which everyone that has gone to grad school in the sciences can attest to), and (truly inspired by Lady Ga-Ga) the costumes which ingeniously used serological pipettes, bio-hazards bags and lab diapers.
Well done.
I love the wardrobe! And I’m very glad I’m not saddled with a bad project anymore!
Very well done! I laughed quite a few times during this, and thanked my lucky stars I didn’t have to go through that kind of rigmarole!
We were just remarking that we don’t remember having enough time to do something like this in grad school. Of course, back then, we would have needed an 8mm camera and development, not an iPhone.
Awesome! I knew several people in grad school who had been in the PhD program for 6 or 7 years. Of course, that’ll happen when you have to wait for Ma Nature to drop a tornado in your lap.
As a chemist, I was pretty happy with our department where it was not unusual to defend after 4-5 years. I hear numbers like 6 and 7 getting passed around today and am appalled.
I burst out laughing at the chorus! You don’t need to be in the sciences to know the hell of being stuck in grad school with a miserably-executed, dead-end project. This video is a reminder of why I shouldn’t try for a PhD again.
It’s funny — I hear scientists complain about grad school all the time, but I had a great time. Of course, I had a good project, a great group and was out in 4.5 years.
Gods but that was funny. It brought back so many memories of late nights in the lab…
Have you seen the PCR song?
John — I hadn’t seen that one. There was also a big-hair power ballad parody a while ago (from Fisher, Stratagene… I can’t remember) that was also pretty good.
My entire work life of recent is filled with bad projects. Maybe if I sang and danced about it, things would be much better. =)
See? You could go from drudgery to something like “The Sound of Music” in a snap!
Oh my gosh…hilarious!! I love her wardrobe. makes me want to see what I can do with red buckets & blood bags……
Go for it! What would be the right blood bank song?
Sunday Bloody Sunday?
Can’t Get Blood From a Stone?
A Rush of Blood to the Head?
I loved the costumes, too. And the part where she holds up that box and asks “what is in this box?” is just too true.
I’m assuming that they all had experiments running while they were filming this. On a Saturday or something….
